On November 29, 2018 AICES had a successful IRTG kick-off. In May 2018 the German Research Foundation, DFG, has approved three proposals for research training groups from RWTH Aachen. The name of the international research training group is ''Modern Inverse Problems: From Geometry and Data to Models and Applications''. The international research training group consists of researchers from the Aachen Institute of Advanced Study in Computational Engineering Science (AICES) and the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) at the University of Texas at Austin.
At the IRTG kick-off Prof. Honerkamp, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Prof. Bardow, Vice Dean in Charge of Structural of the Faculty for Mechanical Engineering hold the welcome remark. Then Prof. Marek Behr gave an IRTG introduction and the IRTG fellows introduced their research topics. After that there was a poster session.
We would like to thank all participants for the very successful day.
